Chuck Dougherty, CPBD
Chuck is the lead Designer of Synergy Design Group. His 2 decades of experience in timber framing with more than 250 projects nationwide, make him a senior member in the profession. This brings rich resources to the design and construction of timber frame homes and buildings. The breadth and depth of Chuck's experience allow him to make finely tuned assessment and seasoned judgment. Chuck founded Chuck Dougherty Design in 1987 and upon moving back to the Pacific Northwest in 1997 Synergy Design Group was created.
Homebuilders can choose how much of an investment they want to make

I first learned about natural forms while hiking with my Dad in the Cascade Mountains of Pacific Northwest. In 1984, armed with a fresh degree in Architecture from the University of Washington, I moved to Pennsylvania and learned timber frame construction techniques from the ground up: pouring concrete, cutting joints, raising frames, walking beams and hammering nails with an Amish building crew - whose tradition of timber framing has been handed down through the centuries.
By the time I left we had designed and built offices, restaurants, a medical clinic,and innumerable renovations, additions, and homes, from the very modest to the quite affluent - all over the U.S.
Since mooing back to the Northwest, I continued to along these lines, while refining my knowledge of green or sustainable design, a value I share with my family while we hike in the Cascades.

The homes and buildings we have designed are found all over the country: Alaska, California, Colorado, Idaho, Maryland, Mississippi, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.
Many are modest, others are quite complex. They are found in every possible setting - on mountain slopes and in the midst of meadows, in suburban developments and on urban streets.

range of individual services - - from site
selection and schematic design, detailed construction and timber frame
drawings, basic energy analysis, building estimates, to owner/builder
consultations and or construction management during the building phase.
